The number of smokers is gradually reducing
According to the Statistics Canada (2011), one of five Canadians (more precisely, 19.9%) older than 12 years was a smoker. Only a decade ago, in 2001, the percentage of smokers was much higher - 25.9% of the total population. Significant improvements over the last ten years there have been not only in smoking, but also in eating habits and leisure. It certainly had a positive impact on the improvement of society generally : the number of people suffering from obesity in Canada has decreased over the past two years. According to the Statistical Department, the number of smokers has decreased among men (2011 - 22.3% in 2001 - 26.8%) and women (in 2011 - 17.5% in 2001 - 23.8%). It is noteworthy that the largest decline by age group occur among teenagers aged 15 to 17 years - from 20.8% to 9.4%. It should be noted that the fight against smoking in Canada lasts more than one year.
